Meet Your Pharmacist
John Hunter, Pharm.D, Pharmacy Manager/Partner
A native of Southern Illinois, John Hunter grew up in Carterville. Upon graduating from Carterville High School, John moved to Saint Louis to attend pharmacy school at St. Louis College of Pharmacy, where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2017. "I have always been fascinated with the idea that just a few simple molecules can entirely alter a person's physiology. I chose pharmacy because I wanted to make 'big-city healthcare' accessible to the small communities that have given me so much. Nothing excites me quite like having a meaningful conversation with a patient about their health. I am always happy to talk!" In 2018, John and his business partners purchased Tony's and Victor's Medicenter Pharmacies from their previous owners.
John and his wife Jessica, also a pharmacist, currently reside in Marion, Illinois. They are expecting their first child in April 2020! In his spare time, John enjoys reading books on a wide variety of topics, running, and venturing off to to less traveled destinations with his wife. Some of their favorite spots include Iceland, Saint Lucia, and Bali, Indonesia!
Dean Privratsky, R.Ph., Pharmacist
My name is Dean Privratsky and I’m excited to have recently taken the position as pharmacist at Tony’s MediCenter Pharmacy. I lived in Oregon for many years but have recently moved back to Southern Illinois. I was born in Dickinson, North Dakota but grew up in Albany, Oregon but am excited to be in the Midwest.
When I made the decision to become a pharmacist, I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. I saw pharmacy as a long term profession with an ever expanding role in healthcare. And it seems my intuition was correct about the role of pharmacy in healthcare. I have been a pharmacist for 37 years, the most recent years spent in Oregon where I attended pharmacy school. In Portland, Oregon, I managed three retail chains and was a preceptor for pharmacy school students.
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Peggy, our three daughters (2 of which live in Oregon and 1 in California), and our grandchildren. I’m an outdoorsmen, and enjoy landscaping and mountain biking. Some of my other hobbies include reading and watching sports, particularly basketball and soccer. I’m enjoying the Midwest and plan to offer the best patient care possible to our pharmacy patients!
