MediCenter is Okawville's locally owned and operated pharmacy. At Okawville MediCenter, we make a commitment to our customers to ensure you receive prescriptions as your healthcare provider prescribes; your prescriptions are ready in a timely manner, usually fifteen minutes or less if you choose to wait; and you are welcomed and treated with a smile you would expect from a friend. Our experienced pharmacist and staff welcome all questions, as our goal is to ensure you understand your medications and take them as prescribed so that your overall health and wellbeing is optimized in your daily life and actions. Meet Your Pharmacists
John Hunter, Pharm.D, Pharmacy Manager/Partner
A native of Southern Illinois, John Hunter grew up in Carterville. Upon graduating from Carterville High School, John moved to Saint Louis to attend pharmacy school at St. Louis College of Pharmacy, where he earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2017. "I have always been fascinated with the idea that just a few simple molecules can entirely alter a person's physiology. I chose pharmacy because I wanted to make 'big-city healthcare' accessible to the small communities that have given me so much. Nothing excites me quite like having a meaningful conversation with a patient about their health. I am always happy to talk!" In 2018, John and his business partners purchased Tony's and Victor's Medicenter Pharmacies from their previous owners.
John and his wife Jessica, also a pharmacist, currently reside in Marion, Illinois. They welcomed their first child in April 2020! In his spare time, John enjoys reading books on a wide variety of topics, running, and venturing off to to less traveled destinations with his wife. Some of their favorite spots include Iceland, Saint Lucia, and Bali, Indonesia!
